Finding and assessing for nature conservation

Rubber Boots Data identifies funding sources, NGOs, data, and apps,
and assesses them for your needs.

.

Finding resources in search engines or databases often lead to a mix of useful and useless hits, which need to be examined and assessed against your requirements.

For example, see the difference when searching for nature conservation NGOs in Costa Rica

.

Example project on funding opportunities

Commissioned by the IUCN , RubberBootsData identified 25 different funding opportunities for the Plastic Waste Free Islands ( PWFI ) project. The funding had to fit the following criteria:

  • Opportunities for different types of actors : NGOs, individuals, (sub)governments, and private enterprise
  • Suitable for Small Island Development States
  • Geographical range : Pacific ocean and Caribbean sea
  • Focus on : tourism, fisheries / ocean pollution and waste management

Each opportunity was described through a structured information sheet ( funding cycle, total budget, eligibility, co-financing, funded projects list, contact details, aim of the fund, procedure ), assembled into a report including insights and recommendations for applicants.

Praise from program manager Lynn Sorentino

The overall impressions of Frank’s work were that his work exceeded our expectations for the research required, and that he was diligent, he asked the right questions, and delivered high-quality work on time.

Very happy with his ability to find new items … This contract was a bit out of scope for his background but it was clear he had a knack for it.

We had an initial idea for a structure of the report’s content and Frank improved it. The final result is better than what we had initially designed owing to Frank’s creativity.
